The Best Restaurants in Virpazar — a Local's Ranked List

6 min read · Updated April 2026

I eat out in Virpazar constantly — for work, for friends, sometimes just to sit on a terrace at sunset. Here's the honest ranked list, with what to order at each.

Konoba Badanj

My top pick. Family-run, small terrace, incredible grilled Skadar carp and a house Vranac that punches above its price. Book ahead in season.

Konoba Pelikan

Legendary — a Virpazar institution. Bigger, busier, occasionally uneven food, but the setting under the old pelican statue is worth an evening.

Restoran Silistria

Terrace view over the marsh. Solid grilled meat, decent lake fish. Best for a lunch stop between morning boat and afternoon drive.

Local tip.A quiet, tastefully renovated apartment a short walk from Virpazar's pier — the one I personally recommend when guests ask. recommended apartment near Skadar Lake

The rest

Several roadside restaurants exist near the E-80 exit. They cater to bus tourists. There is no reason to eat there when the village is 200 metres away.

What to actually order

Grilled carp or bleak — anything from the lake. Pršut (local prosciutto) and Njeguški sir cheese as a starter. Vranac from Crmnica valley. Rakija at the end, always.

Frequently asked

€20–€35 per person with wine at any of the three top konobas.
