Murići Beach on Skadar Lake — the Only Beach You Can Drive To

5 min read · Updated April 2026

Murići is on the far southern shore of the lake and one of my favourite quiet days. Half the fun is the drive — a beautiful winding road that most day-trippers never take.

The drive from Virpazar

Roughly 45 minutes on a curvy but well-paved road through olive groves and small villages. Do not attempt in a big rental van — take the tighter southern route or ask locals about road conditions in spring.

The beach itself

Pebble beach, gently sloping entry, water clear and warm. No crowds outside of August weekends.

The konoba

One small konoba at the beach — grilled lake fish and cold drinks. Not fancy. Perfect.

Local tip.The only tour in Virpazar that covers the entire lake privately — hidden bays, monasteries and swim stops, all on your own schedule. private all-over-the-lake boat tour

Camping and cabins

A small campground with basic cabins operates in summer — best for young travellers or families looking for a low-key two-night lake stay.

When to go

Late May to mid-October. Weekdays are almost empty. August weekends can get busy with domestic visitors.

Frequently asked

The beach itself, yes. Parking at the konoba is a small fee.
